This precious South Austin bungalow was so fun, and it is currently on the market! The home was 1,236 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and it was a bit cramped. We knew we had to get creative to make it feel more spacious. Before we started the cosmetics though, foundation repair was required. We walked in one day, and the entire living room was piled with dirt. We had never seen so much earth inside the living room of a home. Once the foundation was complete, we had the plumbers come out for the hydrostatic test. We barely passed, because the sewer line was sagging. After an additional two weeks and $10K of plumbing work to ensure we didn’t skimp anywhere, we were ready to put the house back together.
The primary bedroom was a decent size, so we were able to borrow a little space from it. We used this to open up the bathroom and closet for more of a primary “suite”. In order to achieve a more open feel throughout, we used the perfect mix of new windows, flooring, lighting, cabinetry, countertops and paint. We wanted to keep the South Austin vibe alive, so for the finishing touches we added a few pops of fun tile and modern light fixtures.
